I love the chance to slip into other people's lives when you travel alone. Not only another version of your own life, but the version of other folk's lives that you make up in the slips that you get. This is beautifully put as ever!
Thank you Ishbel! Yes I was so content to people-watch and be nosy in a way I wouldn’t usually at home, something about being nicely disconnected. Also just the absolute bliss of solo travel while having a young kid at home, I was delirious with it even when just mooching around a Portuguese shopping centre to buy an adapter.
